“One Nation Against God”

Romans 13:1 (CJB)

1 Everyone is to obey the governing authorities.

For there is no authority that is not from God,

and the existing authorities have been placed where they are by God.

I have to admit, since His ways are not my ways and His thoughts are not my thoughts, I am confused.  I am watching events unfold that seem so very tragic, and yet at the same time, they also seem like a very poorly scripted comedy – a comedy of horrors.

I have watched my country in my own lifetime go from being “One Nation Under God” to being “One Nation Against God.”

You can NOT call yourself a Christian nation when that nation is pro-abortion.  To do so, is to spit in God’s eye.  He is the Creator – We are His creation.  It is not the other way around even if many would have you think so. Have we learned nothing from the ancient Greeks?   Infanticide was practiced by the ancient Greeks of both Sparta and Athens – it is practiced by modern America too.

You can NOT call yourself a Christian nation when same sex marriage is a political platform when it is a clear contradiction to the biblical text.

You can NOT call yourself a Christian nation when the widows and orphans are not pleaded for – where the homeless are expected to be taken care of by the government instead of by the individual.

I have served full-time in more than one branch of this nation’s military.  I served at a time when “don’t ask, don’t tell” was not a military command from the Commander and Chief.

And so here I sit, wondering . . . What is that my Lord is saying?  We have 2 men running for the highest position this country has to offer, and neither, by their very actions and self stated beliefs, accept God’s word as the final authority for governance of this nation or their own lives.

It would seem that this nation has lost its way so thoroughly, that it thinks it can actually turn towards the heavens, stick out its middle finger, and tell God NO to His word and commands!

Porn is just a click of a mouse away – or a a TV remote away.  This nation worships wealth – it has churches teaching that God will make you financially rich if you give enough to Him, strike that, to the pastor’s ministry that is promoting it.  Idolatry is rampant.  Sports stars, movies stars, music stars.  Some would have you believe that truth is relative. Gnosticism is making a comeback.  Wicca, mysticism – the list is long.

It would seem that ignorance is bliss and even preferred.  Take for example the current President we have. He achieved the highest office this land has to offer.  He could have done great things.  He could have been REMEBERED for great things. Instead, he will be remembered for not putting his hand over his heart during the National Anthem – for apologizing for things to other countries that being President didn’t even give him the right to do.

We are told in Revelation:

 Revelation 2:2 (CJB)

2 “I know what you have been doing, how hard you have worked,

how you have persevered, and how you can’t stand wicked people;

so you tested those who call themselves emissaries but aren’t —

and you found them to be liars.

I wonder how many people in America fit this biblical narrative.  Do our actions say that we like wicked people or that we can’t stand them?  What about supermarket tabloids? Reality shows?

Revelation 2:3 (CJB)

3 You are persevering, and you have suffered for my sake without growing weary.

Are we persevering, or are we blaspheming God in almost every area of our life?  Are we one nation under God, or one nation under sin!  Are we tired of  God?  If you look around carefully and then at the text carefully, it would seem so.  The text continues telling us why we are no longer a Christian nation:

Revelation 2:4 (CJB)

4 But I have this against you: you have lost the love you had at first.

Where is our love that we once had for our Lord as a nation?  Where is our repentance?  We are warned very succinctly to get back on track or face the consequences:

Revelation 2:5 (CJB)

5 Therefore, remember where you were before you fell,

turn from this sin (repent),

and do what you used to do before.

Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your menorah from its place —

If you don’t turn from your sin (repent)!

You may say that this is to Ephesus only.  Isn’t that being naive?  Can we live like we do, as a nation, and not face the same things?

I watched a video tonight that I came across as I was doing some background work for another article.  It was sad.  Blatant lies.

The story goes something like this:

A young presidential hopeful is running for office.  He makes the following definitive statement:

Permanent status issue before becoming President:

Jerusalem is Capital of Israel at AIPAC before becoming President:

Now that he is President, it is not even part of Israel (Okay maybe a gaffe – maybe not)

Now it is permanent status issue again (Doesn’t need the Jewish vote now as President):

Now they don’t even answer other than to say “our position has not changed.”  Oh the irony!

Let’s not forget the open mic gaffe with Dmitry Medvedev:

Or the gaffe with Nicolas Sarkozy over Binyamin Netanyahu Israel’s Prime Minister:

So then, we come to the Democratic National Convention last night where same sex marriage and right to choose (abortion) is part of the platform, but God and Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel will not be part of the platform.  Wait a minute,  even though it is not a Christian nation anymore, there is still Christians in it . . . We better make a last minute change to our platform or we stand to lose not only the Jewish vote, but maybe some of them bible believing guys too (We can always change back once we are elected just like we did last time):

We either get someone that believes he will be a god when he dies, or keep someone that thinks he is a god already.  If I understand Romans 13:1 correctly and “the existing authorities have been placed where they are by God,” then the only sense I can make of any of this is that we have passed the point of no return.  I am not saying we can’t repent just as Nineveh did, I am just saying that it is unlikely that we will because the American people have put both of these men at the forefronts of their party even though the bible is not their final authority.  It would seem we are all complicit as a nation, before God, for what our nation has become.

I would say, God bless the USA, but God forgive the USA seems a more appropriate petition.

Forgive me for the politics involved in this post.  I felt it needed to be said because at the end of the day, the fruit you produce (or don’t produce) matters!

John 15:1-6 (CJB)

1 “I am the real vine, and my Father is the gardener.

2 Every branch which is part of me

but fails to bear fruit,

he cuts off;

and every branch that does bear fruit,

he prunes,

so that it may bear more fruit.

3 Right now, because of the word

which I have spoken to you, you are pruned.

4 Stay united with me, as I will with you —

for just as the branch can’t put forth fruit

by itself

apart from the vine,

so you can’t bear fruit apart from me.

5 “I am the vine and you are the branches.

Those who stay united with me, and I with them,

are the ones who bear much fruit;

because apart from me you can’t do a thing.

6 Unless a person remains united with me,

he is thrown away like a branch and dries up.

Such branches are gathered and thrown into the fire,

where they are burned up.

Blessings and extra prayers to you all –

I suspect we will need it regardless of who gets elected.

One Response to “One Nation Against God”

  1. Informed and well stated….I just have to think that we need to pray for this nation even more than ever. I think you are correct…regardless of who is elected, as a nation we are in big trouble. This country is discarding its christian values more and more each day.
